Megha holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from India and soon before the COVID-19 pandemic, completed her Master of Public Health from Melbourne in 2021. Megha joined the GWH team in June 2022, as Community Partnerships Health Promotion Officer for the Gippsland Free From Family Violence project.
Megha is responsible for maintaining and developing positive partnerships with local councils, community groups, and local service providers, with the aim to support partners with their Gender Equality and Prevention plans. Gippsland is close to Megha’s heart as this is where she found her first public health job in Gippsland. Megha has lived in Morwell, Gippsland for over 1 year. Megha loves the Gippsland beaches, snowfields, hiking, and riding trails, as well as visiting the local markets and meeting new people.
Megha is a caring and skilled community worker who is passionate about positively impacting programs and providing individualised support to migrant and refugee women. Megha has vast experience in working with diverse communities in Australia, and has previously worked as a Health Educator with The WoMHen Project and delivered health education sessions to migrant women. Megha helped to build on migrant and refugee women’s knowledge about prevention, early intervention, and treatment options in relation to their health and well-being through community outreach.
Megha’s first language is Hindi and Punjabi, she comes from a bilingual migrant background and understands the challenges migrant women face in getting the information and support they need to look after their families and their own health. Megha believes that knowledge and awareness are power, and working with GWH will help her continue to empower many women with the information and the skills to improve their health and the health of their families.
Megha loves spending time with her family and husband, she loves to explore new places and towns especially if it’s closer to a beach, and she has a hidden talent for art and craft which she does in her spare time.
